Exclusive model. German National - Team Günter Schmid and his company Auto Technisches Spezialzubehör – ATS for short – had met with little success with their costly Formula 2 entry in 1976. The team boss believed that, with just a slightly larger budget, a Formula 1 campaign should be feasible, so in 1977 he bought up the remnants of the Penske team and, in 1978, parts of March. From the outset, there was a certain ambition to establish Germany as a Formula 1 nation, and so in the early years various German drivers such as Jochen Mass, Hans Joachim Stuck, Hans Heyer and Harald Ertl came and went in quick succession. A German Formula 1 national team was probably the dream. However, the inscrutable personnel policy and the team boss’s character did not contribute to stability over the years, even though renowned designers were working on new car developments. In 1982, too, Schmid invested heavily to build two new ATS D5s, and with Manfred Winkelhock, a German talent was once again in one of the cockpits. A fifth-place finish in Brazil was sensational, but consistency was lacking. At Hockenheim, with its long forest straights, the ATS was fast and racing without a front wing. Starting in the middle of the grid a burnt-out clutch at the start forced the brave Swabian to retire in the pits as early as lap three. Bad luck on home ground.

Newey’s High-Flyer After Williams failed to reach a contractual agreement with reigning world champion Nigel Mansell at the end of 1992 and the Briton moved to the IndyCar Series, the team brought Alain Prost out of early retirement. After a year’s break, the Frenchman was under considerable pressure to succeed, as the Williams FW15c was the most advanced car of the 1993 season and the Renault V10 the most powerful engine on the grid. Adrian Newey and Patrick Head had pushed the limits of the electronics to the extreme and, in addition to active suspension and traction control, had also integrated the electronic ‘drive-by-wire’ throttle for the first time. Prost thus had the best possible conditions. After ten races, the Frenchman already had seven victories to his name. The Portuguese Grand Prix at Estoril could well decide the World Championship. Pole-sitter Damon Hill stalled at the start of the formation lap due to starter motor problems and had to start from the back of the grid. This meant Alain Prost started the race from the front of the field. After 30 laps, he conceded defeat to Michael Schumacher in the Benetton and, with second place, secured the points needed for his fourth World Championship title ahead of schedule. Whilst the Tricolore fluttered from Prost’s cockpit on the cool-down lap, Damon Hill – having started last – demonstrated with third place just how superior the Williams FW15c actually was that year.

Raceland Gold Edition made by Spark. Exclusive model. The Pederzani brothers from Bologna rose almost meteorically from karting to Formula 1 in the 1970s. The small team owed its final step into the premier class of motor racing to the Formula 1 enthusiasm of Count Teofilo Guiscardo Rossi di Montelera, co-namesake of the famous Martini & Rossi group. With this budget behind them, they were even able to realise the dream of developing their own 180° 12-cylinder engine, which made its debut at Spa in 1972. But by early 1973, the first disagreements had already begun. The Pederzanis wanted the young Clay Regazzoni, while financier Rossi and team manager David Yorke favoured the experience of New Zealander Chris Amon. The dispute went so far that the team founders had a new chassis, the PA123, developed by Alan McCall, while count Rossi and Yorke had Gordon Fowell build the new E731, a modern design whose front end was rather reminiscent of the Lotus 72. From the British Grand Prix onwards, there were suddenly two different cars in the Tecno pit. The team was divided and the driver frustrated. In Austria, the Tecno crocodile was stuck on the cockpit of the E731, devouring the Kiwi Chris Amon. An very ironic hint: it was Tecno’s last joint appearance: Chris Amon moved to Tyrrell, Martini & Rossi moved on to Brabham for 1974, and the Pederzani brothers ended their great Formula 1 dream after this GP immediately.

Raceland Gold Edition made by Spark. Exclusive model. An ill-fated alliance After winning the World Sports Car Championship, Walter Brun and his supporters were drawn to Formula 1. The signs seemed to be favourable. The ban of the expensive turbo engines at the end of the 1988 season promised a significant reduction in costs. After Reynard had no capacity for a Formula 1 chassis, the Brun allied himself with Italian Gianpaolo Pavanello and his former Euroracing F1 Team. An ill-fated alliance, as it turned out. The ER188 designed by Mario Tolentino was an old-fashioned and large car that was very reminiscent of the 184T that Euroracing had used themselves years earlier. The Cosworth V8 engines were prepared by Swiss Heini Mader and instead of just one car for Oscar Larrauri, there were even two Eurobrun on the grid thanks to Stefano Modena's Philipp Morris budget. Still the team struggled financially from the very beginning and from race to race. Sponsorship money was scarce and the livery of the car changed frequently depending on the sponsor. At the season final in Australia, even a dog beauty school appeared on the left side pods. Stefano Modena had to be push started for the formation lap and started last. His retirement on lap 63 brought a difficult season to an end.

Model comes with pitl board and a premium acrylic display cover. With 250 Grand Prix races under his belt, Nico Hülkenberg is considered an F1 veteran: reliable and still fast. But since he entered Formula 1 with Williams in 2010, he has been accompanied by a reputation as a super talent who always was in the wrong team at the wrong time. Yet he managed the feat of winning the 24 Hours of Le Mans for Porsche in 2015 just in between two GP weekends for Force India! And yet, after Williams, Force India, Sauber and Renault, his F1 career seemed to be over after 2019. It was only his top performances as a temporary driver for Racing Point and Aston Martin that brought him back to F1 with Haas in 2023 and Sauber in 2025 in preparation for Audi's F1 entry. Before the 2025 season, the Kick Sauber team was not necessarily considered a contender for championship points, but the transition to Audi’s works team for 2026 brought new motivation and new structures with former Ferrari team principal Mattia Binotto. 19th on the grid at Silverstone, did not exactly suggest a top ten finish. But after early incidents and freak weather conditions, the German suddenly found himself in 10th place. From then on, he started a sensational catch-up, and when he overtook Lance Stroll’s Aston Martin on lap 34, it became clear that after 15 years in Formula 1, he would be celebrating his first podium finish in third place. A long-awaited reward for Hulk!
