Wolf WR1 Cosworth V8 F1 winner Monaco GP 1977

Model comes with a premium acrylic display cover. It was only in June 1976 that the wealthy Austro-Canadian Walter Wolf founded his own Formula 1 team. Unlike many other F1 start-ups in the 1970s, Wolf had sufficient budget and a clear plan. He had brought Peter Warr from Lotus as team principal and Dr Harvey Postlethwaite had come from Hesketh as the designer of the car. The brand-new Wolf WR1 was a success right from the start. Jody Scheckter had left Tyrrell after three successful years and hoped to make a leap to the front with the new team. Nevertheless, victory in the inaugural race in Argentina in 1977 was a true sensation. As the team had only entered one car, they were able to concentrate all their energies and resources on Scheckter's WR1. The Cosworth DFV V8 was a known and reliable engine and at the Monaco Grand Prix, engine power did not play the decisive role. At the start, the South African overtook the pole-setter John Watson in the Brabham, and in the end narrowly held off Niki Lauda in the Ferrari. A start-finish victory and at the same time the 100th success for the legendary Cosworth DFV V8. Jody Scheckter now led the World Championship ahead of the eventual 1977 World Champion Niki Lauda.
