March 84G Porsche Cosmik Metaxa 100 Miles Norisring WSC 1986

Raceland Gold Edition made by Spark. Exclusive model. Second only to Porsche March, in terms of numbers, built the largest number of Group C chassis between 1982 and 1988. Robin Herd and today's F1 master mind Adrian Newey designed them as a customer car from the beginning. Most March Group C cars were raced in the American IMSA GTP where they were equipped with a large variety of different engines, from Chevy V8 and Buick V6 turbo to Mazda rotary engines and BMW's 4-cylinder turbo. Especially the March 84G was a rare bird outside the United States especially when using the engine of the successful Porsche 962C as Greek team owner and driver Costas Los did in 1986. Backed by traditional Greek spirit company Metaxa Costas Los joined all rounds of the 1986 World Sportscar Championship including Le Mans. Although inferior like many others to the dominant Porsche 962C this colorful and interesting Group C car managed a 9th place at Brands Hatch with Costas Los and Tiff Needell at the wheel and a 10th place at the Nürburgring 1000 km where Los was supported by German Volker Weidler. The 100 Mile Race at the Norisring 1986 - the only WSC race ever held there - meant bad luck for Costas Los as he retired with fuel tank problems in the race.
