It was the 356 that helped Porsche—a sports car manufacturer that was still
relatively unknown at the time—achieve the cult status it enjoys to this day.
When customers won their first races with this model in 1951, graphic designer
Erich Strenger created a poster that helped the young company draw attention to
itself. It depicted Porsche’s victory in the “24 Hours of Le Mans” classic race
in the up to 1,100 cc category.
That was essentially the starting point
for an entire series of posters through which Porsche showcased its more than
100 victories in various circuit races and on Grand Prix and rally tracks around
the world. What is remarkable, however, is not only the sheer number of
victories, but also the unique, memorable design language developed by Strenger
and refined over decades. Many of these posters have become coveted and highly

This calendar builds on the tradition of
Porsche’s award-winning graphic and design history—a tradition the company has
upheld since Erich Strenger’s death—and features twelve exquisite images. It
also includes information about the races depicted, as well as the race cars and
production vehicles shown.
